How to Choose a Himalayan Salt Lamp
Every lamp in this collection starts as a block of pink rock salt from the Khewra mine, the oldest working salt mine in South Asia. Because each crystal is cut by hand, no two lamps share exactly the same color bands or texture. The right lamp mostly comes down to room size, style and where you will plug it in.
By room size
- Desks, nightstands and kids' rooms: a small lamp of 2 to 7 lb, a USB salt lamp or a plug-in salt night light.
- Bedrooms and home offices: a medium lamp of 11 to 15 lb from our natural salt lamps.
- Living rooms and open spaces: a large 18 to 22 lb natural lamp or a fire bowl salt lamp as a centerpiece.
By style
Raw, natural-shape lamps show the rock as it came out of the mountain. Our shaped crystal salt lamps are turned into spheres, cubes, pyramids and leaves for a cleaner look. What a Salt Lamp Really Does
A salt lamp is first and foremost a soft, warm light. Many people keep one on in the evening because the amber glow is easy on the eyes and makes a room feel calm. You will see claims online that salt lamps clean the air or release enough negative ions to change your health; those claims are not backed by strong scientific evidence, so we sell our lamps for what they are: beautiful, natural decor.
Care Basics

Are your Himalayan salt lamps real?
Yes. Every lamp is carved from natural pink rock salt mined in the Khewra Salt Range of Pakistan. Real salt lamps have uneven color, small inclusions and a slightly rough feel, and the glow is warm rather than bright.
Can I leave a salt lamp on all night?
Yes, as long as the cord and bulb are in good condition and the lamp sits on a stable, dry surface. A low-wattage bulb keeps the salt warm without overheating, and leaving it on regularly also helps stop moisture from building up.
What size salt lamp should I buy?
Use about 1 lb of salt per 15 to 20 sq ft as a rough guide for ambient light. A 5 to 7 lb lamp suits a bedroom, and an 18 to 22 lb lamp fills a living room with glow. For a desk, a USB lamp or a night light is enough.
Why is my salt lamp sweating?
Salt is hygroscopic, which means it pulls moisture from humid air. Turning the lamp on warms the salt and dries it. In humid summers, keep it switched on for longer, place it on a coaster, and avoid rooms with steam.
